The age of plastic by Dario Tironi

Dario Tironi was born in Bergamo in 1980.  After having completed a degree in sculpture at The Brera Academy of Fine Art, Milan in 2006, he participated in the formation of two associations active in the region in the promotion of emerging artists and in the creation of events in collaboration with different organisations.

He directs his artistic research towards particular themes and issues which characterise contemporary society, such as ecological problems and the consequences of human activity on the environment, global inequality, the contradictions of the consumerist-capitalist system and human alienation. In his artistic practice he makes use of a multitude of heterogenous materials, often taken from everyday contexts, found objects and throwaway materials, products from the ”age of plastic”: accessories, technological devices, toys and dolls, electronic appliances and furnishings, gadgets of every type and mass-produced products.

Tironi elaborates his language taking a lead from fragments of the consumer society: objects charged with symbolism and reminiscences, assembled, modified or placed together to give life to new forms and meanings which lead us to ask ourselves questions about the sustainability of human behaviours.

He has had numerous exhibiton, among them : “Open 13”, Venezia – “Human constructons”, Fortezza del Priamar, Savona -“Impato 2.0”, Museo Nazionale Atestno, Padova – “Monument to mankind”, Piazza del Duomo, Pietrasanta – “Ho cercato l’armonia”, Vitoriale degli Italiani – “Superfuture”, MAD Museum, Singapore – “Figure furituribili”, Collezione Luigi Cataneo, Ateneo di Bologna – “Contemporary trasformatons”, Duke contemporary, Bangkok – “Il dialogo dei contrappost”, Reggia di Caserta – “Scrapart” Doha, Qatar – “Natura umana”, Museo Part, Rimini – Premio Vaf, Kiel – “Valuable scrap” , CSO Ankara.
